Test it: create a poll, vote from another device, and see whether the creator is actually notified or has to remember to re-open the link. "Push notifications" on a feature list means nothing until you've seen one arrive.
3. Can you inspect every poll and vote, or only aggregate charts?
Aggregate dashboards look nice, but when you want to know which products people hesitate on and what friends actually voted, you need per-poll detail: options, votes, voter names, clicks. If the dashboard only shows totals, you can't act on the data.
4. Does the vendor cold-email you after install?
Some vendors in this space treat your inbox as a sales channel — repeated unsolicited emails from "customer success" reps are a documented complaint pattern. Check recent reviews for the word "email" before installing.
5. Does support answer?
In a small category there is no community forum to fall back on: vendor support is the only lifeline. Look at the most recent critical reviews — the pattern to avoid is "great app, but support disappeared when I needed them". Send a pre-sales question and time the answer.
6. Does the widget slow your storefront down?
Anything injected into your theme costs performance. Ask (or measure with Lighthouse): how many scripts, how many kilobytes, deferred or blocking? A poll widget should be a single deferred script of a few KB, with zero API calls at page render.
7. Can friends vote without creating an account?
Every step between "friend taps the link" and "friend votes" costs you votes. Logins, app installs, and email walls kill the loop. The voting page should open instantly on any device and ask for nothing more than a tap (a first name at most).
